FROM CHESS TO POKER

I was a chess professional for few years and honestly I like it very much. As I grow older things are not as simple as it seems. You need a stable income for survival. Chess finds it hard to do it for you. I mean there are many chess tournaments per month in India where you can enter the prize in 90% of the time. Even then it might not be enough. Whoever looks up the tournament prospectus would know the reason I am talking. So, you know what I became a poker player online.

I stumble on http://in.pokerstrategy.com/#uJ2XV4 and pass their easy quiz which they offered me $10 cash within 48 hrs and therefore became a member in pokerstrategy. There are articles, videos and forums in that site where you can learn to become better. With that starting money and the abundance of beginners, I find it 100 times easier to earn money playing poker than to play chess. The reason is that in chess beginners would not dare to play for money whether how small it is against a better player. In poker they did because of luck factor. That's the start of a success story.

CHESS AND POKER COMPARISON AND SIMILARITY

1. Chess has enormous theory. Poker has them too.

This is the reason why switching from chess to poker is so natural. Comparing chess to poker, poker has negligible amount of theories. Hence, chess players are born to succeed with some effort of course.

2. Psychology is inevitable in both both poker and chess.

Poker is more about playing against other players. So, psychology, reading minds is more important in poker than chess. Chess players tend to be more objective.

3. Poker has more player base than chess and grows rapidly compared to chess.

Recently, poker breaks all records in online traffic. With more and more players from all over the world turning professional. Poker rooms are a multi dollars company now. The rise of it's popularity can be traced to one man Chris Moneymaker who won poker championship and became a millionaire without any study mainly due to luck.
