How to improve chess?
Well, many people would like to improve chess. The question is how? Chess is not only a game. It requires skills and skills could be developed only with practice over a period of time.
There are advices everywhere on the net, the thing is, are those advices directed to me? Not all methods work for all, we are all individual having unique styles and preferences. Knowing oneself better would help in meeting one's need.
When I was growing up elders would advice me to punch my table once or twice if something didn't get in my head while learning something. That worked for me. Will it work for others? I doubt that but such motivation would help anybody in any spheres of life.
Chess learning is easy under right environment. Its a game so many are willing to play. Playing is the only way to improve. An actor learns by acting so also chess players become good only by playing. Though it sounds that easy, in reality its deeper than that.
Complex chess strategy and tactic requires individuals to devout hundreds if not thousands of hours of study to master. Even child prodigies took almost 10 years to master the intricacies of the game. Learning chess like any other requires open mind, humble heart. A beginner grabbing an advance books would not help, that's where knowing where he/she stands come into play. Instead of learning with fun, they would end up frustrated.
The learning process should be methodical and organized. This will help in the long run. Every chess player with the coach or instructor knows what he/she should do and how much. But not all people are fortunate enough to have a private coach.
Learning tactics, knowing basic principles of openings, simple endgame strategies would lead a player to intermediate level. What if he/she wants to go further. Study plus play for 10 years equal experts.
